Default D'Alessio Seaboard, did I miss something?

Going through the above mish, protected Confessor Dorian, headed SW to find Dinas, killed a few baddies without any problem, then looked up and my very gallant and courageous character plus the whole crew (with two heroes) were dead and prompted to return to outpost. WTFrig?

I did not see any hexes, spells or current attacks at the time but maybe I should have gone to bed earlier.

Is there a time limit to finding Dinas?

There's no time limit. I seem to recall that after you're told to get Dinas, some Undead may come to kill Dorian again (not many), but I have not noticed that recently.

I could be wrong though.

No time limit. However, are you SURE that you had killed all foes that might attack Dorian? There are groups that can come after you talk to him and he tells you about Dinas. If Dorian dies while you are away, you fail.

this is the most likely reason....the final boss before Dinas shouldn't kill your team :s

try and make sure that all enemies are killed / dead before your leave Dorian to go to Dinas

One of the recent Zmissions took place there which is when I was there last. It takes a LONG time to make sure there are no more undead attacking Dorian. It's really quite a while.

just wait till the last boss dies and then chat with Dorian as you would...

a thought is if you have heroes (not sure) is to leave a monk hero with Dorian to make sure of no additional attacks from the undead....

also make sure you do not aggro anything that could track back to Dorian...and kill ALL undead on the path to Dinas - as some could leeroy off their original position and gank Dorian (even though he deserves to die early)

When you're standing with the Confessor facing the bridge you crossed to get to him, the undead come at you from the left (where you go to finish the mission) and from the right (where the bosses come at you from). The group that sometimes comes after you've cleared the undead and talked to the Confessor comes from that right hand side. To be sure he's not going to get attacked after you leave, head down there and to the left, to a wooden archway, rather than carrying on to the beach. There'll be a group of about three undead already waiting there; a further group of three-four mesmers will spawn there after a few minutes and try and run past you to the Confessor - they're the ones that kill him. (Note that if you go through the archway you'll have the existing undead to fight plus some grasping ghouls popping up, so depending on your party strength you may find yourself in trouble when the mesmers arrive as well. Best to just wait it out in the archway if you're unsure.)

Yeah as people have already said your problem is that you probably left some Ghouls alive who went and killed him , this happened to me the first time i ever did the mission and was quite annoying.

Yes, I was very annoyed. Still trying to figure out "leeroy" and "gank".
(does Dorian really deserve to die early?)

LOL Thanks again everyone. Mr. Smartypants, always so thorough.

"Gank" = Gang kill. A whole team piling on one hapless victim.

"Leeroy" = Overly-aggressive play, charging into impossibly large groups of foes and drawing way too much aggro to handle, getting your teammates into an impossible situation. Example: Prince Rurik leeroys his way through Ruins of Surmia. The term comes from "Leroy Jenkins", star of a classic video of an outing in WoW.
